The Guinness version of the tapestry shows a scene from the style of the famous Bayeux Tapestry, a mounted Norman knight in chain mail, handing a pint of Guinness to a second Norman knight wielding a cudgel.\u003cbr\u003e\nThe poster has retained its deep rich colour over 50 years and it is in fabulous condition. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe text on the poster reads, \"Battle of Hastings 1066, Bottle of Guinness 1966\".\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDimensions: 30 in x 20 in (76 cm x 51 cm)\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Bayeux Tapestry is an embroidered cloth nearly 70 metres (230 ft) long and 50 centimetres (20 in) tall that depicts the events leading up to the Norman conquest of England concerning William, Duke of Normandy, and Harold, Earl of Wessex, later King of England, and culminating in the Battle of Hastings. It is thought to date to the 11th century, within a few years after the battle. It tells the story from the point of view of the conquering Normans but is now agreed to have been made in England.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Battle of Hastings was fought on 14 October 1066 between the Norman-French army of William, the Duke of Normandy, and an English army under the Anglo-Saxon King Harold Godwinson, beginning the Norman conquest of England. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats.
