At the beginning of World War I, he was drafted to be an infantry sergeant and became a war illustrator; depicting life in the trenches. His frontline work earned him a knighthood in the Legion of Honor.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBecause of the age of these posters and their history, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The posters are traditionally folded up and with their age are creased. The good news is that when framed, the creases and tears press up well against glass, and any rough edges can be hidden by mats.
