It shows a psychedalic-looking man in London, dressed in the militaria that the shop was well known for and started quite a fashion trend at the time. The man is dressed in a blue military jacket and has sandals and is holding a guitar. A large Union Flag is behind him.

Austin Powers would have shopped here without a doubt.
Groovy baby, London groovy yeah!
Dimensions: 27.5 in x 20 in (70 cm x 50 cm)
Condition: Excellent condition for its age, there are some taped spots on the reverse side which don't impact the front image.

I Was Lord Kitchener's Valet was a clothing boutique which achieved fame in 1960s "Swinging London" by promoting antique military uniforms as fashion items. I Was Lord Kitchener's Valet was opened by Ian Fisk and John Paul soon joined by Robert Orbach at 293 Portobello Road Notting Hill, London, in 1965. Among the shop's customers were Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger, John Lennon and Jimi Hendrix. It was likely that the Beatles got their uniforms for the Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album.
The military uniforms on sale largely consisted of scarlet tunics derived from pre-1914 stocks that had been withdrawn from regular army use upon the outbreak of World War I.

Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm.

These posters will be delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.

See the FAQ section for more information on shipping, tracking and insurance.
