Their aim was to improve the level of design and manufacture of British cane furniture. This chair is a good, typical Dryad design of the type sold in large quantity - it is decisively modern, showing signs of German influence without being of a type that had little success in the British market.\u003cbr\u003e\nIn 1952, Arne Jacobsen and Fritz Hansen wrote design history when they launched the Ant. The small, lightweight, stackable chair is Arne Jacobsen’s version of a design that can be industrially produced and which fits into small, modern combined kitchen and dining spaces. With it, Arne Jacobsen took on a task that also occupied many of his contemporaries and succeeded to bring an innovative and truly trailblazing design into the world.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Victoria and Albert Museum (often abbreviated as the V\u0026amp;A) in London is the world's largest museum of applied arts, decorative arts, and design, housing a permanent collection of over 2.27 million objects, founded in 1852 and named after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats.
