The Edinburgh Festival Fringe has become a world-leading celebration of arts and culture, surpassed only by the Olympics, and the FIFA World Cup in terms of global ticketed events. As an event it \"has done more to place Edinburgh in the forefront of world cities than anything else\" according to its historian and former chairman of the board, Michael Dale.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBecause of the age of these posters and their history, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The posters are traditionally folded up and with their age are creased. The good news is that when framed, the creases and tears press up well against glass, and any rough edges can be hidden by mats.
