This was a technique he also used in his most famous painting of the 1880s, The Sick Child from 1885–86. Later he would change his painting style in favour of a more flowing brushstroke.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEdvard Munch was a Norwegian painter. His best known work, The Scream, has become one of the iconic images of world art. Studying at the Royal School of Art and Design in Kristiania (today's Oslo), Munch began to live a bohemian life under the influence of the nihilist Hans Jæger, who urged him to paint his own emotional and psychological state ('soul painting').
