This is a unique Apricot Computers poster which shows the 1989 Apricot VX FT, the first computer in the world to use the 486 processor. The headline is "The most significant advance in computing this decade" is a fair statement as the 486 processor doubled the speed of the 386 processor it replaced.

Condition: some edge damage and some rolling lines, see photos.
The bottom tagline is "Open System Computing"
The Apricot VX FT graced the cover of the September 1989 issue of Byte, which proclaimed the first 486 PCs had arrived. Apricot marketed the VX FT as a server,
In 1989, a cover story in Byte magazine announced the Apricot VX FT Server as the world's first machine to incorporate the Intel 80486 microprocessor. This machine, designed by Bob Cross, was a fault-tolerant file server based on Micro Channel Architecture, incorporating an external RAM cache and its own UPS. The VX FT line consisted of Series 400 and Series 800, with four different models each. These (and their other systems) were manufactured in their state-of-the-art factory in Glenrothes, Fife, Scotland.
Apricot was the first to market with the 486, but companies like Compaq and HP weren’t far behind. By the end of the year, all of the major players had 486 machines on the market or very close to being ready.
And while the Apricot VX FT appears to have done reasonably well for itself, it wasn’t a ground-setting machine except for using the latest and greatest Intel CPU. It was one of the few machines that licensed IBM’s Microchannel architecture, rather than going with EISA like Compaq and most other competitors did. This decision could have gone either way, and Apricot chose the standard that lost. Byte had another article in that same issue discussing the pros and cons of each standard.
Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm.
These posters are sent as unframed. They will be delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
