This exhibition poster is from the Victoria & Albert Museum for a 1990s exhibition featuring "20th Century" with two examples from the display. A Sleepy Hollow chair, designed and made by Dryad in 1920 and some Ant stacking chairs designed by Arne Jacobson and made by Fritz Hansen in 1952 in Denmark.

Sleepy Hollow was made by Dryad Ltd, founded in Leicester in 1907 by Harry Peach. Their aim was to improve the level of design and manufacture of British cane furniture. This chair is a good, typical Dryad design of the type sold in large quantity - it is decisively modern, showing signs of German influence without being of a type that had little success in the British market.
In 1952, Arne Jacobsen and Fritz Hansen wrote design history when they launched the Ant. The small, lightweight, stackable chair is Arne Jacobsen’s version of a design that can be industrially produced and which fits into small, modern combined kitchen and dining spaces. With it, Arne Jacobsen took on a task that also occupied many of his contemporaries and succeeded to bring an innovative and truly trailblazing design into the world.

The Victoria and Albert Museum (often abbreviated as the V&A) in London is the world's largest museum of applied arts, decorative arts, and design, housing a permanent collection of over 2.27 million objects, founded in 1852 and named after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. The V&A is located in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, in an area known as "Albertopolis" because of its association with Prince Albert, the Albert Memorial and the major cultural institutions with which he was associated. These include the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, the Royal Albert Hall and Imperial College London.

What is special about exhibition and gallery posters is that they are an affordable way of getting good, unique art on the walls, as although it is not an artists original, neither is it something that has been mass reproduced.

Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the charm.

These posters are sent as unframed. They are delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
