1950 ERP European Recovery Fund Poster, Cooperation Means Prosperity, Marshall Plan, Louis Emmerick, industry, European Union wall art decor

This is an original 1950 poster from Louis Emmerick from the poster competition for the Marshall Plan, or the European Recovery Fund (ERP) designed to invest USA capital into a Europe shattered by World War 2. It won 5th prize in the competition.
The poster shows the flags of the nations of Europe, resting upon the industry of Europe. Not a particularly green image, but a powerfully industrial one of it's time for the rebuilding of European manufacturing.
The strapline is, "Cooperation Means Prosperity"
Artist: Louis Emmerick
Dimensions: 29.5 in x 21.5 in (75 cm x 55 cm)

The Marshall Plan (officially the “European Recovery Program, ERP”) was the large-scale American program to aid Europe where the United States gave monetary support to rebuild European economies after the end of World War II in order to prevent the spread of Soviet Communism. The plan was in operation for four years, beginning in April 1948. The United States aimed to rebuild the region devastated by the war, modernize industry, and remove trade barriers in an effort to make Europe prosperous again. This initiative was named after the US Secretary of State, George Marshall.

Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm.

When framed these colourful and detailed posters, with vibrant colours can become a centre piece for any room, to remind us of a simpler time.

These posters are sent as unframed. They will be delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
