This is must be quite a unique mid century John Gilroy poster on brown composite board. Best known for his advertising Guinness posters, this is a convivial sporting scene showing a number of animals playing golf, and a Tigress is strutting up to putt. Another tigress stands by looking mad, while the rabbits and penguins who accompanying them look decidedly nervous! I hope everyone stopped off at the club for lunch...
It has been likely glued to the composite board, and a laminate layer is on top of that which is fraying at edges.

John Gilroy was an English artist and illustrator, best known for his advertising posters for Guinness, the Irish stout. He signed many of his works, simply, "Gilroy". In 1925, he gained employment at S.H. Benson's advertising agency, where he created the iconic advertisement art for Guinness featuring the Zoo Keeper and animals enjoying Guinness. He was awarded and Honorary MA by Newcastle University in 1975, and was made a Freeman of the City of London in 1981.
Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm.
When framed these colourful and detailed posters, with vibrant colours can become a centre piece for any room, to remind us of a simpler time.
