1951 Vintage SNCF French safety poster, Leaning Tower of Pisa, by Wecoste, industrial, train rail dangers, retro wall art decor
This French poster by Wecoste is from 1951, commissioned by French rail SNCF to alert rail workers the dangers of working on the railway. This poster shows that tall gas cylinders need to be fixed, unlike the leaning tower of Pisa!
Dimensions: 15.7 in x 11.8 in (40 cm x 30 cm)
Condition: some edge damage, a fold, see photos
The captions are, "celle ci ne tombe pas celle la tombera sans fixation" which broadly translates to "this one does not fall
the one will fall without fixation"
This would be a great piece of wall art for a a rail or train themed room, or as an artistic safety notice before the days of health and safety.
Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years in the classroom are part of the vintage charm.
When framed these colourful and detailed posters, with vibrant colours can become a centre piece for any room, to remind us of a simpler time.
These posters will be rolled up and delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
