In August 1953, the Chorégie d'Orange festival was a major event, with a large opera production of Samson and Delilah staged in the ancient Roman theatre. The festival continues to be a major cultural event in France, celebrated for its use of the Roman Theatre of Orange, one of the best-preserved ancient theatres in the world.
Opera performances have traditionally been the cornerstone of the Chorégie d'Orange festival.
Today, the Orange Theatre is known for its spectacular open-air productions, attracting tens of thousands of people each year. The festival’s large-scale productions, often featuring major opera stars, are celebrated for making full use of the Roman theatre's acoustics and dramatic architectural features, creating a unique and unforgettable experience.
Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the charm.
These posters are sent as unframed. They are delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
