1963 Fornasetti Poster, Sun on ceramic by Piero Fornasetti in red, Italian luxury brand, artist & designer, advertising retro wall art decor
This is an original 1963 exhibition poster in both French and German of Piero Fornasetti's "Exhibition of Fornasetti's Decorative Objects and Furniture" in Biel, Switzerland. In bold red, white and black, it shows an object in black and white with three "half suns" on a background of crimson.
The German had an error in the original printing, and this has been corrected after publishing but before the release.
The exhibition was from September 28th to October 20th, 1963.
Dimensions: 33 in x 23.5 in (84 cm x 60 cm)
Fornasetti is a luxury artistic design company founded in 1940 in Milan by Piero Fornasetti, now run by the founder's son, Barnaba Fornasetti, which is known internationally for the creation of porcelain and handmade decorative objects for the home.
Fornasetti’s art often features the sun with a benign-looking face. The sun takes on the features of a human face; it smiles; it displays its austere, regal side or pushes through the clouds to light up the white, geometric architecture of Capri.
What is special about exhibition and gallery posters is that they are an affordable way of getting good, unique art on the walls, as although it is not an artists original, neither is it something that has been mass reproduced.
Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm.
These posters are sent as unframed. They will be delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
