1963 Paul Garfunkel Poster, painting of a small fishing boat with ships in a harbour, French artist, Galerie 1 Paris, wall art decor

This is an original poster by Paul Garfunkel from 1963 from the Galerie 1 in Paris advertising an exhibition for "aquarelles, huiles serigraphies" or "watercolours, oils and screen prints" for which this one appears to be the latter. The image itself shows a sailing boat moored stationary tied to three pylons, the rest of the port lies behind with much larger ships.
Dimensions: 22 in x 15 in (56 cm x 38 cm)
Condition: right hand top corner has a fold, see photos.

Paul Garfunkel was a French engineer and painter. He studied engineering at the École Polytechnique de Paris before moving to Brazil in 1927. In 1950 whilst based in Curatiba he dedicated himself exclusively to painting after which he travelled through several Brazilian states to portray the colourful daily life of the cities in which he visited and edited two albums: Images du Brésil ( 1958 ) and Nouvelles Images du Brésil ( 1962 ). He also participated in several Art Salons in Brazil and exhibited his works in Paris and Antwerp.

Because of the age of these posters and their history, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The posters are traditionally folded up and with their age are creased. The good news is that when framed, the creases and tears press up well against glass, and any rough edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm.

These posters are sent as unframed. They will be delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
