This is a 1964 poster of Arik Brauer watercolours exhibition from his detailed realism for an exhibition in Paris at the Galerie Karl Flinker. This poster is in amazing condition for its age and has been stored flat. Psychedalic for a watercolour.

Arik Brauer studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna from age 16, and from 1947 also singing. Brauer was a co-founder of the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism. Called an Universalkünstler (all-round artist) in Austria, his art was exhibited at international galleries and museums, and especially at major museums in Vienna.

The Vienna School of Fantastic Realism (Wiener Schule des Phantastischen Realismus) includes Ernst Fuchs, Arik Brauer, Wolfgang Hutter and Anton Lehmden, all students of Professor Albert Paris Gütersloh at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts where also Zeev Kun studied in Gütersloh's class. It was Gütersloh's emphasis on the techniques of the Old Masters that gave the fantastic realist painters a grounding in realism (expressed with a clarity and detail some have compared to early Flemish painting) combined with religious and esoteric symbolism.

What is special about exhibition and gallery posters is that they are an affordable way of getting good, unique art on the walls, as although it is not an artists original, neither is it something that has been mass reproduced.

Because of the age of these posters and their history, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The posters are traditionally folded up and with their age are creased. The good news is that when framed, the creases and tears press up well against glass, and any rough edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm.

These posters are sent as unframed. They will be delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
