1964 Serge Mendjisky Poster, A rural country scene from the south of France, Impressionism, gallery exhibition, wall art decor

This original Serge Mendjinsky exhibition poster is from the Galerie Urban, Paris, for an exhibition in 1964 featuring a very colourful, rural country scene from the south of France with terraces and trees in the foreground in the red earth, with a village in the hills in the background.
For an old poster, the colour has been retained very well.
Dimensions: 22 in x 17.5 in (56 cm x 45 cm)
Condition: corner fold and a small edge tear on the right hand side edge, see photos.

Serge Mendjinsky follows the French Impressionists, developed in France in the nineteenth century and is based on the practice of painting out of doors and spontaneously 'on the spot' rather than in a studio from sketches. Main impressionist subjects were landscapes and scenes of everyday life.

What is special about exhibition and gallery posters is that they are an affordable way of getting good, unique art on the walls, as although it is not an artists original, neither is it something that has been mass reproduced.

Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the charm.

These posters are sent as unframed. They are delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
