Zermatt is a world-famous ski destination renowned for its high-altitude slopes and breathtaking alpine scenery. Alfred Perren-Barberini (1896–1967) was a photographer based in Zermatt, where he ran a photography business. His views of the village, surrounding mountains and winter sports appeared in tourism advertising. This image combines two powerful attractions in one picture: the excitement of skiing and the instantly recognisable shape of the Matterhorn.
Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm.
