This original Tube (London Underground) poster "Harvest" shows a highly textured depiction of a harvest scene, dominated by swirling, golden-yellow stalks, likely representing wheat or corn, in the foreground. The brushwork is very expressive and almost appears scratched or etched.

Text reads: Harvests are many: corn in the dusty clatter of the combine, apples hand-picked from the cidery orchards, hops aromatic but no longer the traditional chance for a cockney holiday. And, less formally, there are blackberries across the common, hazel nuts along the edge of the wood. Green Rover tickets cover them all. Green Rovers cost 6/- (children 3/-) and give a day's freedom of all London Transport Country (green) Bus routes. Buy them from conductors after 09 30 on Mondays to Fridays (all day on Saturdays and Sundays).

The London Underground (also known simply as the Underground or by its nickname the Tube) is a rapid transit system serving Greater London and some parts of the adjacent home counties of Buckinghamshire, Essex and Hertfordshire in England. The Underground has its origins in the Metropolitan Railway, opening on 10 January 1863 as the world's first underground passenger railway. The Metropolitan is now part of the Circle, District, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines. The first line to operate underground electric traction trains, the City & South London Railway in 1890, is now part of the Northern line.

Anthony Rossiter was a British landscape painter who was educated at Eton and studied painting at Chelsea Art School from 1947-51. Gnarled hedgerows, tumbling stone walls, broken gates, reflections in water and ploughed fields were all his subject matter.

Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm.

When framed these colourful and detailed posters, with vibrant colours can become a centre piece for any room, to remind us of a simpler time.
