This is a 1969 poster of J.R.R Tolkien's "Bilbo" by D. de S. Pernes from the fantasy world of Middle Earth. The artist Count Dominic Charles Peter Bon de Sousa Pernes (signed his art as D. de S. Pernes) designed five Lord of the Rings posters, but only ended up drawing three of them. This is one of the three that was made and was third in the series.
They were originally sold in the legendary London shop Dark They Were, and Golden-Eyed and at that time they were being sold for just ten shillings.

"Bilbo" Baggins who was a hobbit of the Shire, the main protagonist of The Hobbit and a secondary character in The Lord of the Rings. Gandalf suggested to Thorin and Company that they hire Bilbo Baggins to be their burglar in the Quest of Erebor, and later fought in the Battle of Five Armies. Bilbo was also one of the bearers of the One Ring, and the first to voluntarily give it up, although with some difficulty. He wrote many of his adventures in a book he called There and Back Again.
Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the charm.
When framed these colourful and detailed posters can become a centre piece for any room, to remind us of a simpler time.
These posters are sent as unframed. They will be rolled up and delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
