1970 Treebeard Poster, Ent by Simon Garbutt, Lord of the Rings, J.R.R. Tolkien, Middle Earth, Third Age, fantasy fiction wall art decor

This is a 1970 poster of J.R.R Tolkien's "Treebeard" by Simon Garbutt from the fantasy world of Middle Earth. The artist Count Dominic Charles Peter Bon de Sousa Pernes (signed his art as D. de S. Pernes) designed five Lord of the Rings posters, but only ended up drawing three of them. "Treebeard", also known as Fangorn is the one he didn't paint.
Treebeard was the oldest of the Ents left in Middle-earth, an ancient tree-like being who was a "shepherd of trees". He had a very tall and stiff-limbed appearance, with bark-like skin and leafy hair.
They were originally sold in the legendary London shop Dark They Were, and Golden-Eyed and at that time they were being sold for just ten shillings.

Condition: crinkling and repairs to tears, and some marks left by tape see photos

Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the charm.

When framed these colourful and detailed posters can become a centre piece for any room, to remind us of a simpler time.

These posters are sent as unframed. They will be rolled up and delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
