1970s Michelin Tyres Poster, from 1905 by E Montaut, tyre advertising, Faster than Rail!, art deco nouveau Advertising wall art decor

A 1970s reprint of an advertisement of the Michelin Tyres designed by French posterist and painter E Montaut. It shows a sports car racing faster than a train depicting the legendary race between George Heath on his Panhand and the fastest train in the world, in which Heath beat the train over a distance of 600km by 30 minutes.
This is a 1960s or 1970s reprint of the original poster.

Michelin is a French multinational tyre manufacturing company based in Clermont-Ferrand in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes région of France. It is the second largest tyre manufacturer in the world behind Bridgestone and larger than both Goodyear and Continental. Michelin is also notable for its Red and Green travel guides, its roadmaps, the Michelin stars that the Red Guide awards to restaurants for their cooking, and for its company mascot Bibendum, colloquially known as the Michelin Man, who is a humanoid consisting of tyres.

Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm.

These posters will be delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
