This original Saul Steinberg exhibition poster is from the Galerie Maeght in Paris for the 1971 exhibition featuring "The Couple" showing two women, one somber life like woman with dark hair, the other is a smiling cartoonish figure. Both look straight ahead, looking both together and out of place at the same time.

Saul Steinberg was an American artist, best known for his work for The New Yorker, most notably View of the World from 9th Avenue. He described himself as "a writer who draws". Steinberg’s drawing style is characterized by a playful, childlike-doodle quality while also maintaining an elegant deftness that succinctly described a wide range of subjects. His quirky, sharply observed sketches, at times reminiscent of Dada art, also crossed over into the fine arts world.
What is special about exhibition and gallery posters is that they are an affordable way of getting good, unique art on the walls, as although it is not an artists original, neither is it something that has been mass reproduced.
Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the charm.
These posters are sent as unframed. They are delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
