Original vintage election propaganda poster for the 1975 European Union Membership Referendum held in the United Kingdom - YES - Do something positive for your country's future - Vote YES to keep Britain in Europe. This European Communities Membership Referendum was held on 5 June 1975 under the provisions of the Referendum Act 1975 by the Labour government led by Prime Minister Harold Wilson to gauge support from the people for the country's continued membership of the European Communities, which the country entered on 1 January 1973 under the Conservative government led by the Prime Minister Edward Heath; Labour's manifesto during the October 1974 General Election promised a people's vote to decide "through the ballot box" whether to remain in the EC, resulting in 67.23% Yes votes to remain in Europe and 32.77% No votes to leave Europe.
Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm.
These posters are sent as unframed. They will be delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
