A reprint of the Knebworth Fair in 1976, was headlined by the Rolling Stones at Knebworth Castle. This is a 1998 reprint which has been handsigned by the promoter, Freddy Bannister. The poster shows a dancing harlequin at Freddy Bannister's, Knebworth Fair headlined with The Rolling Stones and supported by Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Don Harrison Band, Todd Rungren's Utopia, 10cc and Hot Tuna.

Freddy Bannister was a leading British concert promoter during the 1960s and 1970s, and was the founder of the Bath Festival of Blues 1969, the Bath Festival of Blues and Progressive Music 1970 and the Knebworth festivals.

1976 was that incredible hot summer, and promoter Freddie Bannister and owner/lady of the manor Chryssie Cobbold - who has written an excellent book on the Knebworth Festivals - expected many more than the 100,000 ticketed punters to turn up to see the Stones and five other bands: 10cc, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Todd Rundgren's Utopia, Hot Tuna, and the Don Harrison Band. Queen were originally booked to headline but got shunted when Mick and Keef fancied Knebworth - Freddie and company would show they could rock it outdoors with their superb Hyde Park gig a month later.

The 1976 Knebworth Festival would help launch the show into one of the biggest concerts in the world, with continued success into the 1980s and 90s, including Freddie Mercury’s final performance in 1986, the iconic Oasis set of 1996 and Robbie Williams in 2003.

The Rolling Stones would go on to have a career resurgence following their late-night Hertfordshire showing, appealing to a new generation of fans as they battled against the punk movement. As for Bannister, his determined efforts to book Led Zeppelin would pay off in 1979 as Page, Plant and co. came to Knebworth. But it would end his involvement with the festival.

Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm.
