The 1976 Week of Manual Work — "The Hand Transforms the Idea"
In 1976, France held a national campaign called the "Semaine du Travail Manuel" to promote and elevate manual labor in society, which was increasingly valuing intellectual and service-based professions.
To restore dignity and respect to manual trades and skilled labor.
To highlight craftsmanship and the value of practical skills.
To encourage youth to consider technical and vocational education as valuable career paths.
The Slogan: "The Hand Transforms the Idea"
This phrase emphasized the creative and essential role of manual workers, showing that ideas are not only born in the mind but also realized through skilled hands. It was a powerful statement about the union of thought and action.
Because of the age of these posters and their history, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The posters are traditionally folded up and with their age are creased. The good news is that when framed, the creases and tears press up well against glass, and any rough edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm.
These posters are sent as unframed. They will be sent in a cardboard tube for protection.
