This famous poster is from the iconic Jimmy Cauty original drawing of Lord of the Rings in 1976. It shows Gandalf mentoring Frodo, who is holding Sting, with Sam on the opposite side. Flowing letters at the top of the poster present "Lord of the Rings" and the One Ring is wrapped up in that. Other characters adorn the middle ring of the poster, Gimli, Legolas and Gollum, Galadriel and Elrond. The outer ring is made up of goblins and orcs as they climb and crawl through narrow passages, with Sauron's all-seeing Eye at the top. Jimmy Cauty, who was 19 years old when his Lord of the Rings poster went on sale, vividly evoked the countercultural milieu that the fantasy genre at the time still largely inhabited—a world of hippies and students saturated with the paranoia and trippiness of drug culture and worlds away from the patrician dreams of Tolkien himself.
These posters are sent as unframed. They will be sent in a cardboard tube for protection.
