This Marc Chagall exhibition poster is from the Pace/Columbus in Ohio for a 1977 exhibition of his work "Enlevement de Chloe" or "Abduction of Chloe" which shows vibrant characters and electrifying hues of different shades across the color spectrum. It is a lively scene with human forms on horses, an army of people carrying war instruments, and finally animals running around daintily on the foreground. The two lovers, Daphnis and Chloe, lovingly embraced in the midst of chaos. They are seemingly unbothered by their surroundings, only living in their world of love and desire. 
Daphnis and Chloe is an ancient Greek novel written in the Roman Empire, the only known work of the second-century AD Greek novelist and romance writer Longus.

Marc Chagall was a Russian-French artist of Belarusian Jewish origin. An early modernist, he was associated with several major artistic styles and created works in a wide range of artistic formats, including painting, drawings, book illustrations, stained glass, stage sets, ceramics, tapestries and fine art prints. He experienced modernism's "golden age" in Paris, where "he synthesized the art forms of Cubism, Symbolism, and Fauvism, and the influence of Fauvism gave rise to Surrealism".

This is an unused item has been stored flat in unopened stack of poster which were never used for the promotion of the exhibition, so are in amazing condition.

What is special about exhibition and gallery posters is that they are an affordable way of getting good, unique art on the walls, as although it is not an artists original, neither is it something that has been mass reproduced.

Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the charm.

These posters are sent as unframed. They are delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
