An original 1979 exhibition poster for “Miró at Pace/Columbus”, featuring sweeping black shapes, a large eye-like form and bright touches of red, yellow, green and blue. The fine, scratchy background contrasts with the bold black forms, giving it a lively, almost creature-like appearance.
Dimensions: 25 in x 34 in (64 cm x 86 cm)
Joan Miró (1893–1983) was a Catalan painter, sculptor and printmaker known for turning figures, birds and other familiar subjects into imaginative shapes and symbols. Associated with Surrealism, he developed a distinctive combination of flowing black lines, organic forms and strong colours. This poster shows that visual language particularly well: it feels playful and recognisable without depicting a straightforward scene.
What is special about exhibition and gallery posters is that they are an affordable way of getting good, unique art on the walls, as although it is not an artists original, neither is it something that has been mass reproduced.
Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the charm.
These posters are sent as unframed. They are delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
