1980s Profane and Sacred Poster, by Mieczyslaw Gorowski, Profan und Sakral, expressionism, theatre musical advertising print, wall art 1980s
This poster is advertising the 1980s production of "Profane and Sacred", or "Mieczyslaw Gorowski" in the native German. Some really interesting expressionism around the balance of good and evil.
Dimensions: 33.5 in x 23.2 in (85 cm x 59 cm)
Profan und Sakral (literally translates to "Profane and Sacred"), the 1986 German stage play production (of the play by Igor Strawinskij) which was held at the Stadtische Buhnen in Osnabruck, Germany.
It was commissioned by German theater director Dr. Erdmut August who also created what may be the world's largest international theater poster archive with holdings of 16,000 different posters by many of the world's leading poster artists.
Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the charm.
These posters are sent as unframed. They will be rolled up and delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
