A rare mix of two of the most famous ski images, the elegant lady in full art nouveau winter dress from Jules Abel Faivre's Sports d'Hiver Chamonix and the background and typography from Francisco Tamagno's Chamonix Mont-Blanc. This image was originally reproduced in the mid 1960s, promoting "60 years of Winter Sports, and this version was released 20 years later in the mid 1980s.
Strapline is "Chamonix Mont Blanc France" and "80 year anniversary of winter sports", "80 ans de sports d'hiver".

Skiing was introduced in Chamonix at the end of the 19th century by Dr Payot. The first big winter season was in 1906-07. Much of the initiative came from the 'Club Alpine Français' which organized a local winter sports competition. In 1924 Chamonix hosted the first Winter Olympic Games.
Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm. Note the slight discolouration on the lower part of the poster from storage.
When framed these colourful and detailed posters, with vibrant colours can become a centre piece for any room, to remind us of a simpler time.
These posters are sent as unframed. They will be delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
