1981 Francoise Adnet Poster, Sad, stark nude with birdcage, modern post war figurative expressionism, gallery exhibition wall art decor

This original Francoise Adnet exhibition poster is from the Galerie des Quais in France for the 1981 exhibition featuring a nude female subject, near an empty birdcage, signifying being trapped in her figurative expressionism style.
Dimensions: 25 in x 18 in (63 cm x 46 cm)

Françoise Adnet was a French figurative painter whose pieces follow two main themes: female figures and cityscapes. Her figurative works are considered her best work, exhibiting a distinctive technique.
Adnet was known to favor portraits, most of which were of female subjects. Adnet once said, "Every portrait is my self-portrait ... I project myself into every character I paint." Her characters were often dark or brooding, or in distress. Even in her nudes, Adnet intended not to show beauty of nakedness, but to show tragedy in her painted figures.

What is special about exhibition and gallery posters is that they are an affordable way of getting good, unique art on the walls, as although it is not an artists original, neither is it something that has been mass reproduced.

Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the charm.

These posters are sent as unframed. They are delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
