This is a 1981 advertisement of J.R.R Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" from the fantasy world of Middle Earth illustrated by Eric Fraser. It's in great condition.
It was released to support the BBC Radio 4 serial of 26 episodes of the same name by Brian Sibley and Michael Bakewell. Interestingly Ian Holm would go on to play Bilbo on the strength of his performance of Frodo in the 2000 movie trilogy.
It shows the Fellowship going into Mordor with the One Ring. There is a lot of information on the back of the poster about the characters in the book and the cast that plays it, giving a great opportunity for a double-sided hanging.
Dimensions: 23.5 in x 16.5 in (60 cm x 42 cm)
Condition: has pinholes, see photos.

In 1981 BBC Radio 4 produced a dramatisation of J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings in 26 half-hour stereo installments. The novel had previously been adapted as a 12-part BBC Radio adaptation in 1955 and 1956 (of which no recordings are known to have survived), and a 1979 production by The Mind's Eye for National Public Radio in the USA.

Like the novel on which it is based, The Lord of the Rings is the story of an epic struggle between the Dark Lord Sauron of Mordor, the primary villain of the work, and an alliance of heroes who join forces to save the world from falling under his shadow.

Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the charm.

When framed these colourful and detailed posters can become a centre piece for any room, to remind us of a simpler time.

These posters are sent as unframed. They will be rolled up and delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
