Promotes the landmark Danish daily newspaper Politiken. The composition features a woman in a dramatic crimson Art Nouveau gown with stylized wing-like shoulders, holding up a fresh issue of the newspaper.

Providence: An official authorized museum reprint (issued in 1984 by Politiken and the Designmuseum Danmark), as indicated by the publisher notation printed in the lower white margin.
Art Movement: Art Nouveau / Skønvirke (Danish Jugendstil), characterized by flat color blocking, bold silhouettes, and flowing graphic curves.

Created while Drachmann was attending the Women's Art School at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. Female graphic artists were extremely rare in 1890s Europe; Drachmann's work for Politiken was selected to represent Danish poster art internationally and is considered a milestone in Scandinavian graphic design.
Because of the age of these posters and their history, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The posters are traditionally folded up and with their age are creased. The good news is that when framed, the creases and tears press up well against glass, and any rough edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm.
These posters are sent as unframed. They will be delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
