Jean de Brunhoff's Barbarr is a favourite of children across the world. This 1970s poster is advertising a book release from Methuen Childrens Classics No 3. Laurent de Brunhoff continued the tales from his father.

Babar the Elephant is a fictional elephant character who first appeared in 1931 in the French children's book Histoire de Babar by Jean de Brunhoff. The book is based on a tale that Brunhoff's wife, Cécile, had invented for their children. It tells of a young elephant, named Babar, whose mother is killed by a hunter. Babar escapes, and in the process leaves the jungle in exile, visits a big city, and returns to bring the benefits of civilization to his fellow elephants. Just as he returns to his community of elephants, their king dies from eating a bad mushroom. Because of his travels and civilization, Babar is appointed king of the elephant kingdom. He marries his cousin, and they subsequently have children and teach them valuable lessons.

"Methuen Children's Classics" refers to a collection of classic children's books published by the British publishing house, Methuen & Co., Ltd. This includes notable works such as Kenneth Grahame's The Wind in the Willows, A. A. Milne's Winnie-the-Pooh, and editions of The Adventures of Tintin. These books are valued for their historical significance and literary merit.

Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the charm.
