1987 Tolkien Exhibition Poster, The Hobbit, J.R.R. Tolkien, Bodleian Library, Oxford, Middle Earth, fantasy fiction wall art decor

This is a poster advertising a 1987 exhibition for "Drawings for the the Hobbit" poster from the Bodleian Libraries in the University of Oxford, which houses the Estate of J.R.R. Tolkien.
Dimensions: 23.6 in x 16.5 in (60 cm x 42 cm)
Condition: some border marks, some rough edges, see photos.

The image for this poster was painted in 1937 by Tolkien himself to accompany an American edition of "The Hobbit". It is named "Bilbo comes to the huts of the Raft-elves".

Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm.

These posters are sent as unframed. They will be rolled up and delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
