This is a unique 1988 advertisement for a musical arrangement "The Tale of the Rings of Power" by Thomas Peterson, and illustrated by Patrick Wynne and played by the Greater Grand Forks Symphony Orchestra in North Dakota, USA. Both Artist and composer have hand signed the poster.
The art is in 7 circles, The Eye of Sauron in the middle, with other images of Sauron, Gandalf, Sarauman, Ents, battles and the Fellowship. The detail in the images is beautiful and precise, and covered in the norse runes that Tolkien used in Middle Earth.
The source of inspiration is from J.R.R Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" fantasy world of Middle Earth.
Dimensions: 30 in x 22 in (76 cm x 56 cm)
Condition: Some watermarks on the top edge of the poster see photos.
Like the novel on which it is based, The Lord of the Rings is the story of an epic struggle between the Dark Lord Sauron of Mordor, the primary villain of the work, and an alliance of heroes who join forces to save the world from falling under his shadow.
Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the charm.
When framed these colourful and detailed posters can become a centre piece for any room, to remind us of a simpler time.
These posters are sent as unframed. They will be rolled up and delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
