This Rene Magritte exhibition poster is from the Galerie Isy Brachot in Paris for the 1989 exhibition featuring an "le Domaine Enchante" or "The Healer / Therapeute" from 1969. This was painted between 1950-51.

In Le thérapeute (or The Healer) Magritte depicts a seated, cloaked figure whose face is hidden and whose torso has been replaced with a birdcage. His first painted version of the subject dates from 1936 its composition dervived from a photograph of the artist seated in his garden at rue Esseghem in the Brussels suburbs . During subsequent decades, the motif evolved in a number of variants. Certain examples replace the torso-as-birdcage with other devices, including the painted canvas of the original photograph.

This is an unused item has been stored flat in unopened stack of poster which were never used for the promotion of the exhibition, so are in amazing condition.

René Magritte was a Belgian surrealist artist. He became well known for creating a number of witty and thought-provoking images. Often depicting ordinary objects in an unusual context, his work is known for challenging observers' preconditioned perceptions of reality. His imagery has influenced pop art, minimalist art, and conceptual art.

What is special about exhibition and gallery posters is that they are an affordable way of getting good, unique art on the walls, as although it is not an artists original, neither is it something that has been mass reproduced.

Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the charm.

These posters are sent as unframed. They are delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
