This exhibition poster is from the Gallerie Pastor-Gismondi in Monaco for a sculpture exhibition by Alain Le Yaouanc.

Born in 1940, Alain Le Yaouanc is a French artist. At the age of 16, he joined the School of Harmon Hall in the USA, country to which he is specially attach. He did his first drawings and paintings there and he started exposing them too in 1957. He got an artistic formation at the Art Students League of New York and he opened his first workshop there.

In 1965, Alain le Yaouanc decided to return to Paris, where he made his first collages. It was during this same period, that he met the critics and theorists Andre Breton, Alejandro Jodorowsky and Aime Maeght. He participated in the Free Expression Art Festival at the American Cultural Center, at the Living Art exhibition, at the Maeght Foundation and at the Tresors du Surrealisme in Knokke le Zoute.

In parallel, he created in 1973 sets for ballets and published several lithographs works.
In 1981, he started working on monumental architectural projects and his pictorial work was widely exposed specially in private exhibitions. Louis Aragon was the first to write about his works. His articles have been published in the French Letters.

What is special about exhibition and gallery posters is that they are an affordable way of getting good, unique art on the walls, as although it is not an artists original, neither is it something that has been mass reproduced.

Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the charm.

These posters are sent as unframed. They are delivered in a cardboard-backed envelope for protection. They have been stored folded.
