This is an original poster from Roy Lichtenstein showcasing the now-famous pop art example "Aloha" from 1963. It is a 1962 pop art piece featuring his signature Ben-Day dots, bold outlines, and comic book-style imagery. The work captures a stylized, idealized vision of Hawaiian culture, likely inspired by mid-century commercial art and tourism ads. Like much of Lichtenstein’s work, it plays with mass media aesthetics and irony.

Roy Lichtenstein was an American pop artist known for his comic book-inspired paintings using Ben-Day dots, bold lines, and vibrant colors. His work satirized mass media, advertising, and popular culture. Iconic pieces include Whaam! (1963) and Drowning Girl (1963). Influenced by both fine art and commercial imagery, Lichtenstein helped define the Pop Art movement alongside artists like Andy Warhol.

Because of the age of these posters and their history, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The posters are traditionally folded up and with their age are creased. The good news is that when framed, the creases and tears press up well against glass, and any rough edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm.

These posters are sent as unframed. They will be delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
