1998 Vincent Van Gogh Poster, "A windmill on the Poldar waterway" 1888 Post-Impressionism gallery exhibition, wall art decor

This exhibition poster is from the Art Gallery of Ontario for an exhibition in 1998 featuring "Art in the Age of Van Gogh". It features Vincent Van Gogh's Post-Impressionist, "A windmill on the Poldar waterway" from 1888 and a self portrait.
Dimensions: 27.5 in x 19.5 in (70 cm x 50 cm)

Vincent van Gogh was a Dutch post-impressionist painter who posthumously became one of the most famous and influential figures in the history of Western art. In a decade, he created about 2,100 artworks, including around 860 oil paintings, most of which date from the last two years of his life. They include landscapes, still lifes, portraits and self-portraits, and are characterised by bold colours and dramatic, impulsive and expressive brushwork that contributed to the foundations of modern art. He was not commercially successful, and his suicide at thirty-seven came after years of depression and poverty.

What is special about exhibition and gallery posters is that they are an affordable way of getting good, unique art on the walls, as although it is not an artists original, neither is it something that has been mass reproduced.

Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the charm.

These posters are sent as unframed. They are delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
