This Marc Chagall exhibition poster is from the Palazzo Forti in Verona for a 1999 exhibition featuring his work "The Father" from 1914 which shows the Father looking sadly down with his wife and cat off to the side.

In The Promenade, Bella in ecstatic jubilation flutters like a flag in the wind, held up in the sky on the arm of Chagall, who is laughing with joy and is dressed in his best clothes. The dancing double figure extends over the plane like an ornamental emblem. The ornamentation of Bella's skirt pleats, as in a Futurist rendering of movement, greatly emphasizes the swinging effect of her floating figure.
Marc Chagall was a Russian-French artist of Belarusian Jewish origin. An early modernist, he was associated with several major artistic styles and created works in a wide range of artistic formats, including painting, drawings, book illustrations, stained glass, stage sets, ceramics, tapestries and fine art prints. He experienced modernism's "golden age" in Paris, where "he synthesized the art forms of Cubism, Symbolism, and Fauvism, and the influence of Fauvism gave rise to Surrealism".
What is special about exhibition and gallery posters is that they are an affordable way of getting good, unique art on the walls, as although it is not an artists original, neither is it something that has been mass reproduced.
Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the charm.
These posters are sent as unframed. They are delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
