This poster is from from a 2002 collection of posters from Alan Lee which were painted in 1991 in which were used as a creative influence on the movies around the millennium. Alan Lee is one of the leading artists in Tolkien artwork.

"Two Orcs in the Land of Shadow" shows two orcs in Mordor. In J. R. R. Tolkien's fictional world of Middle-earth, Mordor is the realm and base of the evil Sauron. Mount Doom, a volcano in Mordor, was the goal of the Fellowship of the Ring in the quest to destroy the One Ring. Mordor was surrounded by three mountain ranges, to the north, the west, and the south. These both protected the land from invasion and kept those living in Mordor from escaping. Land of Shadows is the name of the second chapter of Return of the King.

Alan Lee was one of the leading designers in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy set of movies from Peter Jackson. You can see that these posters from the 90s show a strong resemblance to those later films, his influence is undeniable.

Alan Lee does "still work" the best -- even when his subjects are in motion, they look very quiet and almost dreamlike. There's a lot of detail poured into these, since even small twigs, cracks and stains make their way into his artwork. They also tend to have muted, faded colours, lots of soft greys, browns and greens. Some of them look like sepia photographs.

These posters are sent as unframed. They will be sent in a cardboard backed envelope for protection.
