If you're looking for something authentic from the travel history of London, then look no further. These authentic Tube (London Underground) posters are from the 1980s, and were used to advertise the new electronic instant tickets, or what would become Oyster Cards.
A wizard stands at the ticket machine, because obviously such technology can only work because of magic!
Dimensions: 40.2 in x 25.2 in (102 cm x 64 cm)
Condition: Some white marks and small edge tears, see photos.
"You / We love instant tickets "
After years in development the first Oyster cards were issued to LT staff in 2002 and to the public in 2003. At first Oyster cards functioned as electronic Travelcards, with the ‘pay as you go’ function added in 2004.
Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm.
When framed these colourful and detailed posters, with vibrant colours can become a centre piece for any room, to remind us of a simpler time.
These posters are sent as unframed. They will be delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
