Ever since the first Games of the modern era in Athens in 1896, posters have played an important part in the popularisation of the Olympics. They have also served, once every four years, to identify both the host city and a particular aesthetic linked to the global image of the Games of that year.
The Games of the XXX Olympiad ,London 2012 was an international multi-sport event held from 27 July to 12 August 2012 in London, England, United Kingdom. There were 10,768 athletes from 204 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) who participated in the 2012 Olympics. The opening ceremony, directed by Academy Award winner Danny Boyle, received widespread acclaim.
