Hand-signed colour lithograph by French artist Henri Cueco, titled Manifestation, meaning “demonstration” or “protest march”. Made around 1968–1970, the work belongs to Cueco’s Les Hommes rouges (The Red Man) series. A dense crowd, raised hands and sweeping red flags capture the energy and tension of collective protest. Bold outlines and a restricted palette give the composition a striking graphic presence.
The series was printed at Fernand Mourlot’s workshop in Paris.
Signed by Cueco in the lower-right area, with the artist’s name and title also incorporated into the printed design.
Dimensions: 19.5 in x 25.5 in (50 cm x 65 cm)
Henri Cueco (1929–2017) was a French painter, printmaker and writer whose work often explored ordinary people, politics and society. Largely self-taught, he became an important figure in the return to figurative painting during the 1960s. He helped establish the politically engaged Coopérative des Malassis in 1969 and later taught at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm.
When framed these colourful and detailed posters, with vibrant colours can become a centre piece for any room, to remind us of a simpler time.
These posters are sent as unframed. They will be delivered in a cardboard backed envelope for protection.
