A striking Mr. Brainwash poster showing a chimpanzee holding a spray can beneath the red message “Follow Your Dreams”. Sitting on a distressed Coca-Cola cooler, the chimp becomes the graffiti artist, while the spray can borrows its appearance from a Campbell’s soup tin. The red, black and grey palette gives the image a strong graphic presence against the photographed brick wall.
The design is commonly titled “Follow Your Dreams”; related compositions belong to his “Everyday Life” series.
His London exhibition, “Life Is Beautiful,” occupied the Old Sorting Office near the British Museum during the 2012 Olympic summer. Interestingly, its pre-opening party was held in collaboration with Coca-Cola—a brand prominently featured here.

Printing method: colour photomechanical printing on paper, probably offset lithography.
Dimensions: 35 in x 23 in (89 cm x 58 cm)
Condition: two corner have light fold marks, see photos.

Mr. Brainwash is the working name of Thierry Guetta, a French-born artist based in Los Angeles. He became widely known through Banksy’s 2010 film Exit Through the Gift Shop. His work mixes graffiti, advertising imagery and Pop Art with upbeat messages. Here, the soup-can design recalls Andy Warhol, while the chimpanzee and sprayed lettering draw on the visual language of street art.

What is special about exhibition and gallery posters is that they are an affordable way of getting good, unique art on the walls, as although it is not an artists original, neither is it something that has been mass reproduced.

Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the charm.

These posters are sent as unframed. They are delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
