An original French agricultural advertising poster produced circa 1925–1931 for Établissements J. Belleudy et Cie of La Cabucelle, Marseille.
The striking design promotes the company’s “Le Sans Rival” fertiliser, described as a superior animalised compost containing fish guano and made according to the “Formule Lagatu.” A farmer scatters the product above an abundant harvest of black and golden grapes, accompanied by bold red and brown period typography.
The reference to Lagatu is believed to relate to Henri Lagatu, the influential French agricultural chemist and soil scientist whose research included fertilisation and plant analysis.

Because of the age of these posters and their history, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The posters are traditionally folded up and with their age are creased. The good news is that when framed, the creases and tears press up well against glass, and any rough edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm.
These posters are sent as unframed. They will be sent in a cardboard tube for protection.
