This is a beautiful original 1970s design by Marino Marini who adapted his iconic Cavaliere theme specifically for the Olympic series. The dynamic, abstracted horse and rider figure serves as an allegory for equestrian sport, physical vitality, and primeval athletic power.
The designs for the 1972 Munich Olympics were overseen by Otto "Otl" Aicher. His design team produced 35 sports posters of this kind to advertise the games, using the official design colours and also including the logo and "München 1972". The design team used a technique called "posterization" for the graphics on the posters, separating the tonal qualities from the images in a manual process and using the official Munich colours for these games.

Marino Marini (Italian, 1901–1980): One of the most acclaimed Italian sculptors and painters of the 20th century. Marini is best known for his lifelong devotion to a single central motif: the equestrian figure (Cavaliere / Horse and Rider), expressing human emotion, tension, and raw energy.
The posters were displayed all around the city of Munich and around the Olympic sites. Posters were hung in twos alongside posters designed by famous artists.
Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm.
When framed these colourful and detailed posters, with vibrant colours can become a centre piece for any room, to remind us of a simpler time.
