"The Crossing of the Channel"

This beautiful original art deco style Orient Express poster is from a set of 12 (limited edition to 200 sets) by Pierre Fix Masseau, and is one of a set commissioned when the luxury route from London to Istanbul re-opened in 1982.
This poster shows the waters of the English Channel, with a ferry transporting the Orient Express from Calais, France to Dover, England. The last leg of the Istanbul to London Service.
First edition from 1985, limited edition of 200 copies.
Printed on lithographic press, on paper 250 gsm Arche Lavis-Fidelis paper.
Dimensions: 20 in x 12 in (50 cm x 31 cm)
Note: this is #70 of 200, but as only one comes with the set it won't be included as part of the sale.
Condition: There are some stains down the left hand side edge, with clever framing is shouldn't impact the poster, see photos.

Taking its name from the famed transcontinental railway founded in 1889, this privately-owned venture provides a luxurious experience to travelers with restored carriages from both the original train and plush Pullman cars from the 1920s and 1930s. Artist Pierre Felix-Masseau took inspiration from this historic aesthetic to create these beautiful Art Deco posters in 1981, showcasing the locations and classy elegance of the railway. These are marked as First Edition from 1982.

Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm.

These posters will be delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
