This is a poster from 2002 from the Brothers Hildebrandt, more famous for their Star Wars movie poster art. They are limited edition (706/10000) and signed by both brothers. The images started off as part of a 1978 calendar which were then repainted to align to the release of the extremely popular Lord of the Rings movie trilogy. The Siege of Minas Tirith is also known as "Siege 2".

Scenes like this are initially created in a sketch, and then Greg and Tim would spends hours upon hours looking for the right photographic reference to combine for their painting, and bring their sketch to life. All posing was done in the studio using friends of the two artists, and it was always a blast!
Greg and Tim did a sketch for this painting in 1978 as a potential centerfold for the '79 LoR calendar, but the brothers decided not to use it at that time. Then, in 2000, for the second edition of their LoR art book with Watson-Guptil, they finally took the sketch to a finished painting. This is one of the last LotR pieces the Brothers Hildebrandt ever created together.
Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the charm.
When framed these colourful and detailed posters can become a centre piece for any room, to remind us of a simpler time.
These posters are sent as unframed. They will be rolled up and delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
